Just a short walk from Ladywood Lodge, this seat enjoys views across Rydal Water.

The Lake District villages of Grasmere and Rydal are well within walking distance, as are the respective lakes and low level footpaths. If you want to head for the high fells then Heron Pike and Fairfield provide a challenging and enjoyable walk.

Grasmere
Grasmere

Grasmere was once the home of William Wordsworth and today you can visit two of his former homes - Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount. Ladywood has associations with William and Dorothy Wordsworth, as Ernest De'Selincourt who was Oxford Professor of Poetry from 1928 to 1933, was the editor of Wordsworth's famous Guide to the Lakes, first published in 1906, and edited other publications including The Letters of William and Dorothy Wordsworth.

In the centre of Grasmere is St. Oswalds Church, the churchyard of which contains the Wordsworth family graves

For those wishing to explore the rest of the Lake District, Ambleside and Windermere are within easy reach, and a little further away are Keswick and Coniston.
